How to Prioritise and Stay Consistent

Don’t prioritise your schedule, schedule your priorities
— Steven Covey

This quote has been a game changer for me. Have you ever noticed yourself losing control when you've fallen off your planning wagon? I am a Class A example of losing the plot as soon as I lose my plan. Through trial and (many) errors, I have finally found my groove and honestly it has changed my working life.

So what have I done? OK, let me show you.

  1. I HAVE A PLAN and I stick to it. My working week fits within school hours, therefore every minute is precious and must be productive. I have now scheduled in time for writing content, time for meetings, time for bookkeeping, specific projects, strategic planning and so on. My calendar sends me reminders and it's the only notification I allow to pop up on my screen
  2. I WORK IN 50 MINUTE CYCLES. I recently read this article which resonated with me. I accidentally discovered the amazing benefits of leaving the desk and moving around a little while ago. Not only did it do wonders for my posture but it also allowed my brain to process the previous session and come up with great ideas. Why? Well I believe because I gave my brain some space to breathe and digest.
  3. I SAY NO. That age old dilemma of the entrepreneur - never turn down work because you never know when the next job is coming?  Elements of it are true, but what if that job nearly sent you over the edge? What if you ended up dealing with conflict resolution more than content creation? Trust your gut. I can say this after making the mistakes that have taught me the importance of being open to saying no. I listen carefully and ask lots of questions and never make a rash decision. That investment of time can make all the difference.

This year I have taken a leap of faith and opened up this can of worms to help other business owners get back in planning shape. My one-on-one sessions have shown me how much value there is in helping you see your value and how easy it can be to create your voice online. At the end of this month I can't wait to work with my first group of Sunday Session participants. Together we'll crack the myths of Facebook, Instagram and how to create a social media plan and even share our most embarrassing social media secrets - so what is a hashtag anyway?

If you're interested in finding out more, please get in touch. Email me at jen@digitaldandy.com.au or click over to the website where all the details are ready for you. I have to mention though, the spots are filling up fast, some people have already booked all three sessions! (There's a great discount if you fancy doing the same).

Thanks for spending your valuable minutes with me - I hope some of my ideas might help you develop your brand, build your confidence and rise above the white noise of social media.
